A journey of a thousand miles begins with one footstep.

Tao Te Ching

At the center of your being, you have the answer; you know who you are, & you know what you want. - Lao Tzu

He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still.

Lao Tzu

Health is the greatest possession. Contentment is the greatest treasure. Confidence is the greatest friend. Non-being is the greatest joy.

Lao Tzu

In the world there is nothing more submissive & weak than water. Yet for attacking that which is hard & strong, nothing can surpass it.

Lao Tzu

Flow with whatever is happening, & let your mind be free. Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate. - Chuang Tzu

For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill.

Sun Tzu

He who knows when he can fight & when he cannot will be victorious. - Sun Tzu

If ignorant both of your enemy & yourself, you are certain to be in peril. - Sun Tzu

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason & common sense.

Do not dwell in the past; do not dream of the future; concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.

To keep the body in good health is a duty ... otherwise, we shall not be able to keep our mind strong & clear.

It's not the daily increase but daily decrease. Hack away at the unessential. - Bruce Lee

Empty yourself of everything.

Let the mind rest at peace . . .

Returning to the source is stillness, which is the way of nature.

Tao Te Ching, Book 16

~ be still as the mountain . . . flow like the river ~
Tai Chi Chuan
"Supreme Ultimate Fist"

- often just called "Tai Chi" today . . . more wellness & less martial emphasis

- slow, sequential dance-like movements or forms

Qi Gong
"Cultivation of the Chi"

- stationary (sitting or standing) exercise with repetitive movements & focus on deep breathing

Tai Chi & Qi Gong are the most practiced exercises on Earth. This philosophy of wellness, balance & harmony has roots at least 4,000 years old. Tai Chi & Qi Gong are holistic movements that integrate mind, body & spirit.

Mind: directs the movements ("nothing else to do, but Tai Chi")

Body: moves with gentle & flowing ease

Spirit: energizes mind/body w/Chi or life-force energy - "vital breath"

Tai Chi & Qi Gong are very forgiving & easily adaptable to your physical condition. Movements may even be performed in a seated position. Stances may be adjusted to your comfort range. The main desire of Tai Chi & Qi Gong is the "chi" flow, which occurs during the integration of mind, body & spirit.

Tai Chi is often called "moving meditation."

There are many styles of Tai Chi & Qi Gong. The two main styles of Tai Chi are Yang & Chen, named after Chinese families. Yang forms are performed upright with higher postures, allowing for more open & stretched movements. Yang style is the most popular Tai Chi system since most people can successfully practice the movements.
